New Charger Question
I have a 08 Prec with 4 12V Trojan 1275's.
The batteries are new. They were charged once by the guy who installed them, I used the cart for 2 hours and let it sit overnight since they forgot to drop off the charger. I received the charger today. I put the cart on the charger at 2 pm. It was charging until about an 6 pm. it slowly got to 5 amps or volts ( not sure ) but the charger turned itself off and I left it plugged in. about an hour later it came back on, the meter says 5 amps/volts and the charger just continues to run. Is this normal ? should it stay off until I use the cart ? Could there be something wrong with the charger or could it be because they are new batteries ? I figured I would wait until morning to see if it is shut off. Generally how often do the chargers kick back on to recharge ? |

Re: New Charger Question
. . . a normal charge cycle can last up to 16 hours . . . it will sit at 5 amps or less sometimes "forever" during the last phase of the charge cycle . . . you can charge in either TOW or RUN mode . . .

Re: New Charger Question
Thanks
New to this stuff, it did shut off at around 16 hrs.. It seemed to shut off during the charge cycle once that I noticed around 5 hours in. It turned back on shortly after, I assume this is normal ? |

Re: New Charger Question
My charger started doing this but I believe its because one of the cells in one of the bats went bad. You could possibly have a bad bat, you might want to check it out to make sure. The one bat that I have going bad never charges higher that 8.35 volts so that is only 80% charge. I just unplug it now after it shuts off after 16 hours.

Re: New Charger Question
Carts with IQ system will normally stop and restart at the 1 hour and 2 hour mark in the charge cycle for the charger to run a self-diagnostic program, with the amp meter dropping to zero . . . this is considered "normal" . . .
