I was doing some research before I drop some $$ and found this. After I posted it, I saw the date. I do remember reading some posts about people complaining about this same issue not too long ago, though.

When I recently upgraded my 2008 I called D&D motors and mistakenly said I had the grey controller and they said they had nothing for that. PQ said same thing except they said they could upgrade the motor. I had not seen anything from Alltrax either.

Luckily I was color blind and upon closer inspection my controller turned out to be black

AllTrax needs to research this stuff before they post this wrong information for the public to see. This is ridiculous. The I2 car is nothing more than a body style change that accomodates the use of 8V batteries in the bucket. The "I2" controller they're referring to is actually called "Excel" The I2 car was available until model year 2013 in BOTH IQ and Excel, contrary to their wording. Not every I2 car was an Excel system until 2013.
