How do you want to use it? And what sort of performance are you looking for? They each have their strong points.
The series carts make more torque and the sepex carts make more speed. There is always a trade off of torque for speed and vise versa.

lift and tires witch i would guess means more torq would be nice. Off road is my goal hunting trail riding not worried about speed at all.

Series cart would be best for low speed high torque driving.

The regen carts make more speed and they have regenerative braking. Both of which make more motor heat. They also have rollaway protection and self diagnostics with the stock control. You loose most of that when you upgrade to an aftermarket control though...

I am brand new to carts. So I won't even try to dispute the other comments here. I have a 2002 DS, series. My issue is with the f&R switch. Because the series version pulls on the cables back and forth, I have issues with the forward cable fraying. The regen type or toggle swith seems to make more sense to me. Having said that, for all the reasons that the others have mentioned, I am enjoying the extra torgue I am getting...
I use my cart for hunting also. BTW, I'm getting almost 25 MPH on paved roads with this cart. As for torque, The cart breezes through the hills and dirt roads of my hunting lease. I don't use a trailer and it climbs up the ramps and into my P/U bed without even the slightest hesitation.....

It does have a 700 amp motor/controller....
