What to think of abnormaly high pack voltage?
So when I first put these batteries in and was experiencing higher than "normal" pack voltage I had a guy try to tell me my fluke meter was off. So since I have re checked with two other meters and I just installed a meter in dash and after two days of driving it around the neighbor hood im still at 51.7 ish Has been in the high 52 range all day... And this is after a resting period and approx 5-7 miles of driving with a 650 amp controller and d&d motor
Now in the stickies it says a full pack is 50.93???? So what im wondering is it possible I got a hotter charge of acid than normal in these batteries and if so could that be why im always reading high?? Cart drops voltage as im driving like a normal cart (approx 2-4 volts) then goes back up when I come to a stop.. |

Re: What to think of abnormaly high pack voltage?
Mine sits on 51.4 24hrs after charging. I followed the break in instructions for my now 6 month old US batteries from this great site and can't be happier. I drive the cart to the club every day doing course maintenance, a round trip of 10kms (~6 miles) and when back after rest the charge is 50.8. Verified by my Fluke meter, onboard voltmeter and 3 other different DMM's. Your batteries must be strong !! but not a lot of difference in terms of percentage. My pack (48v) gets to 63.9 max during charging. BTW cart is a 2006 Carryall 6, not a dragster but a great allrounder in a pretty harsh part of Australia.

Re: What to think of abnormaly high pack voltage?
Nothing to do with cart batteries, but I bought some Duracell Ultra AA batteries and they measured 1.75V! They are supposed to be 1.5V. Believe me, I'm not complaining, I just think that some cells ( golf cart or otherwise ) can have higher than advertised voltages.

I had never had a meter read incorrect in my experience so after your comment I did check it with two other meters just to be certain. I never came back to that thread because I didnt want to stir the pot but then I just added my in dash meter when I built my new dash and they all read the same.. IMHO I think I may just have a hotter set of batteries but im far from an electrical guru .. Thank everyone for their opinions.. P.S. Driving it more throughout the day and it is finally at a steady 51.9 |

Left it off the charger again last night and my girl drove it around all night and its finally at 50.7!!
People seem to look down on Sams club batteries but these energizer branded batteries made by Johnson controls are treating me well! |

My Advance Auto batts are doing very well too. Went for a 8.63mile ride and checked the pack -- 50.6v. And most of those miles were at 30mph!
