Alltrax Controller Problem in Precedent
I have a 2006 Club Car Precedent and just upgraded to a programmable alltrax 500 amp controller, I also upgraded the solenoid and battery cables. After I installed the controller, when I went to push the pedal it did not do anything until I pushed it half way down and then it would start to surge (stopping, going, stopping, going) until i had pushed the pedal all the way down and then it would go at normal speeds without jerking. the "surge" was a slow movement not a very fast and jerky one. Then i hooked up the controller to my computer and changed the throttle response to Linear and change of few other settings that I found worked with other carts.
Results after programming: When I push the pedal down slightly it starts to go like normal and then starts to slightly surge and then acts normal past that. Changing the throttle response seemed to help a bit but not completely fix my problem. Has anyone had this problem? Or anyone know what the problem can be? |

Re: Alltrax Controller Problem in Precedent
Club Car problems with Alltrax throttle progam is not uncommon but, your problem does sound odd? Try reducing the throttle up rate to see if that softens the problem. I suggest you call the dealer or alltrax in the AM

Re: Alltrax Controller Problem in Precedent
scottyb,
thanks for your input. I have messed with throttle up and down rate and still cant find a combination that will give me a smooth ride. I will keep messing with the settings though. I am currently emailing the tech support at alltrax and hopefully they can help but am very impatient with the emailing becuase it takes so long, maybe a call to them will help?? I just cant imagine what the problem can be. |

Re: Alltrax Controller Problem in Precedent
I went through the same thing, Alltrax will email a new map that will fix the problem where the controller only recognizes 90% throttle but they have no fix for the jerky acceleration. I played with mine a lot.
My smoothest curve was inductive. Then I set the throttle up rate at two or three, then you can pretty much mash the go pedal and it will accelerate very smoothly however if you try to feather it, it will jerk and I do not believe it can be fixed. My Dcx500 does this on my 2008 precedent and My Axe400 amp controller does the same thing on my 2000 DS. The curtis controllers are more capable of detecting the weak throttle signals of the club car. If there were a way to boost the signal in the club car throttle wiring that might be a place to fix it but I have not looked into it. |

Also, in my experience, using any curve but the custom curve provided with the special map results in less than 100% throttle. Also, after lots of seat time you will be able to get smooth take-offs without full throttle, but even then you'll get jerky take-offs some of the time. |

Re: Alltrax Controller Problem in Precedent
Throttle down does nothing as far as I am concerned but I have it at 5. It is supposed to be about double the throttle up rate.

Re: Alltrax Controller Problem in Precedent
Well Alltrax has just emailed me two new curves and says one should fix my problem. But it might be the same one you have tried and doesnt help so I will just try them and see what happens.
