Partial Charge OK?

Does it hurt anything if you do a partial charge on the pack between uses?

When hunting I run my cart generally for a few hours in the morning and I'd like to be able to plug it in for a few hours (during lunch and my usual hunting season nap) and then use it again during the evening hunt even though it won't have time to reach full charge. Being able to do this would ensure it last for the entire evening hunt as well.

It's not the ideal scenario, but I would go ahead and do it anyway. I think it's more important that AFTER the hunting tript is put on the charger and allowed to finish on it's own.

It would certainly be put on the charger for a full charge overnight. Also, this would only be done periodically...maybe a half dozen times a year.

Any charging your batteries get is good for them! If I'm using my cart and have a chance to give it a couple hours charge in between uses, I'll surely do so!

sorry guys a disagree with this.....over the years i have seen a lot of battery problems and the thing in common is the statement well we charge it a few hours then drive it and will charge it full overnight......i think one of the worse things you can do is charge the cart and then stop charging before its done..........i beleive you should always leave it go once you start it charging....it charges in 3 stages and since you have no idea what stage its at when you pull the plug i think doing so greatly reduces the life of batteries and their ability to get to a good 100% full charge....i,m no expert on this its just an opinion.........but there are reasons you have people who can get 10 years out of a set of batteries and other with the same exact ones and driving conditions who only manage 5 or 6 years.......................................

Trojan battery company advocates a partial charge (between rounds of golf) when you know the total usage will exceed a safe discharge level.

Naturally a complete charge would be in order when the days usage was over. This is critical as Shadowman says... But a lunch hour boost charge is okay in my book.

From what I've read from a number of sources, the batteries don't hold a memory, so what, if any impact, does that play in a partial charge?

I agree to never discharge below 50-60%, but I'm struggling with a justification that says its bad to do a partial discharge if the batteries don't hold a memory.

I too am no expert, just trying to gather a consensus.

You are correct about no memory. I think if there is any confusion about this it stems from the question of 'is a partial charge a good replacement for a full charge' to which the answer is a big NO.
But is a mid day partial charge a good supplement to long days use and the answer is YES.
But, it does not eliminate the need for a full charge at the end of the day.
I hope this helps clear the air.
