which club car to buy

i am looking to buy my first car. really like the DS model for the looks. eventually plan on lifting and bigger tires. i am a little confused on the series carts vs carts with the iq motors. which is the easiest to get speed and torque out of.

If you ask me it will not make a difference because you would have to do the same mods to either cart and the costs are about the same.

Some will say the Series makes more torque and the IQ more speed. I have both a Series and iQ withabout the same setup and they are the same speed and torque wise I would side with the series cart.

Thanks for your input. I am looking at a 99 ds with new batteries. $2000. Cart. Is bone stock besides rear sear and turn signals. Seems like a fair deal. Can a bigger controller be installed for more speed (stock motor). I am very tech savy with gas engines but this electric thing is new to me

You might gain some speed maybe some torque but the stock motor is only 3.2 hp and you will not get much out of that motor.

If you want to get by cheap, try a new motor, we got 25 mph out of the beast ge motor with the rest of the cart stock and ran it a few years with no problems but the torque was a little lacking. Adding a 400 amp alltrax AXE controller fixes the torque though. Then if you want you can eventually change out the solenoid, forward/reverse switch and 4 guage cables. Also changing the controller only effected torque, speed was the same before and after, so that is why I think a controller upgrade will only help torque, not top end.

I am selling my DS for $2200 it has motor, controller, solenoid, F/R switch, 4 year old bats, new modern top, new tires/wheels, ice chest, sand bottles, and tinted windshield just to give you an idea of the market. Top speed 25 and lots of torque.

Speedchaser your information was very helpful. would love some feed back from others as well that have had or have both carts. (IQ and Series) I will be pulling the trigger on one or the other this week and dont want to make a bad decision.

I love my IQ cart, it is set on 4 and goes 20 mph which is plenty fast. It also takes hills pretty well. It is completely stock
