Cool Speed Magnet

My 08.5 Club Car has a speed magnet in it. Can I Kick the cart up to level 4 also and increase the speed?

I have a 09 that had the speed magnet, and to be honest I couldn't tell much difference in speed in the before and after results. I just had mine changed to 4 over the weekend, and now I can tell a difference. Went from 13MPH to 19MPH. I now have the speed magnet, and code 4.

If the magnet and speed code 4 will only give you 19 MPH, does anyone know what top speed would be with a Plum Quick motor upgrade with everything else stock? My cart is an 48V, 09 precedent. Thier website says 20mph+ with more torque, but what is that in reality?

mines a 09 with a magnet and im gettin about 20,speed settings set at 3,the magnet is lots cheaper for the same speed.i like not having the regan braking also.plumquick will give you about 20-22 but lots more torque, mabee a little faster with bigger tires....

With a high speed magnet, speed setting 4 is completely useless. Do not waste your money. A high speed magnet cuts the speed signal to the controller in half. A vehicle set on speed setting 3 for example would normally begin to slow itself at around 15 mph. With a high speed magnet, the car would slow itself around 30 mph. By installing a high speed code and bumping your top "allowed" speed to 19.6 mph you're gonna be able to run 39.2mph.... We all know with a stock golf car motor and controller that you don't have the power to reach 30 mph to begin with. There's no reason to increase your limit to 39.2 if you can't even reach 30. Save up some money and get a motor and controller that will allow you to run high speeds if you really want to go fast.

Dave, I think I am understanding what you are saying. I guess my question is, I have both ( the magnet, and had the code set to 4.) My code was at 3 and once the magnet was installed I really couldn't tell much difference in speed. Now at 4 all the difference in the world 18 to 19MPH. Do you think I should take the speed magnet off and put back the orginal magnet?

Are you sure you installed a 4 pole magnet? If you did and were already at speed 3 you should have noticed the difference running at 19mph.

I think cmar may be onto something. It sounds like you installed another OEM style magnet instead of a high speed one. You should have a limitation of speed that is unattainable by a stock golf car with a magnet alone.
