88 club car died
I drove my 88 (i think 88.....have the v glide) this morning and everything was fine but just a few minutes ago my boy said it wouldnt move.....sure enough , it wont do a thing....has 38 volts but not sure how to trouble shoot it, one thing i did notice is that solenoid used to "click" i thought but now it dosent.....is that the likley culprit?

Re: 88 club car died
well i jumped the two large post and after some sparks (and a little arc welding) it tried to move a little.....so im thinking order a solenoid......also found the large black wire on the F/R switch is down to only a few strands left holding it......not sure its long enough to put a new end on it though.....
I replaced that solenoind when i worked on this thing a few years ago so its not reall that old i dont think...... |

Re: 88 club car died
Just a note to all, if you have one cable you see is compromised chances are the entire set is old and has built up internal resistance that is robbing the motor of amps and voltage. Some people report that a new cable set adds MPH to their cart.
Repair any damage you see but, consider it time for a new set of cables. |

Re: 88 club car died
Very true. My upgraded cables added 1 mph to my cart and a ton of torque.

Re: 88 club car died
i dont think this old rag is worth new cables (or a new solenoid really).....beat to hell, cracked body and mis matched batteries ....the NEWEST battery i have in there is 2005........still kicks along though.....

Re: 88 club car died
Ok, i put the new solenoid on ( i broke the housing on one of the small studs by overtightning the **** thing) but it still wont move unless i jump it.....i took that little micro switch off and it seams to click, tried jumping those wires but didnt make a differance.....im guessing my old solenoid is ok but not sure whats wrong.....
