1986 Club Car..is it worth it?
I am being offered an 86 Club car for 150.00 it has been sitting for years..(not sure of how many) batteries are dead..so I will probably have to replace them..other than flat tires the current owner is not aware of any issues..is it worth the time and money to buy it for 150.00?
I am new to this arena so I want to get some honest opinions before i dive in and get over my head. Thanks |

Re: 1986 Club Car..is it worth it?
I just bought a 94' DS for $300 with dead batteries and rotten tires. New batteries and a $35 set of Craiglist tires and wheels later I had a running cart. I say absolutely worth it.

Re: 1986 Club Car..is it worth it?
Sounds good to me too.
Find someone on here who has upgraded their wheels. I'd give you my old stockers for free, if you're close enough to come get them. Probably not worthwhile to ship them. Alternatively, find someone near you selling a set of 12 or 13" car rims, a lot of the Japanese imports with 4 lug patterns are a 4x100mm pattern, which will fit our 4x4" pattern. I see these from time to time for less than $50 on CList. Note: You'll likely need a small lift to make a tire over 18" high fit, and you may have to buy wheel spacers (cheap on eBay).... One more thing. Borrow a couple of batteries, and test the electrics before you pull the trigger on a new set of batteries. You may find out the motor, differential, or some other expensive component is dead. It would be a shame to have bought batteries, and then find out the cart is too far gone to fix... |

I'd do it. Tires and wheels are hard to get. I'd give you some for free if you are close enough.
