Default 48 volt batteries

I have a 99 Club Car 48 volt that uses 6 - 8 volt batteries. It's getting time to replace the batteries and I'm wondering is there any advantage or disadvantage to switching to 4 - 12 batteries like the later model carts?

thanks in advance to all the replys

The 4 12v batteries actually hold less amperage than your 6/8v... stick with what you got.

The 12v's will not fit in to the 8v battery frames in the cart and you will have to fabricate some new ones with new hold-downs. As scotty says stick to what you got. Club Car have switched back to 8v's on the later carts. They may go back to 12v's if they introduce AC carts which are much more energy efficient.
