V-glide question
I replaced my v-glide last year on my 1990 CC 36v because the wiper brush stuck and fried it. I think my buddy who was driving kept his foot on the accelerator to stop the cart from rolling backwards, created an arc between two contacts and melted it. On the v-glide there are eight contacts, but only the upper contacts get used. Can you use the other contacts so that the cables aren't packed into one area? Or would the acceleration be too "jerky?" My rationale is, with a little space between the contacts would give you "a little breathing room." If I am an idot, please break it to me gently. Thx.

Re: V-glide question
Everything in your v-glide serves a purpose. Though I have never tried it, I think that if you tried to skip some contacts you would get the "jerky" acceleration or none at all if the rewiring was done wrong. Yourbest bet is to get the parts to replace the fried ones and banish your friend from your your golf cart

Re: V-glide question
Thanks Scottyb, but I already bought one. Although you may be talking to a new ss cntrl customer. I asked about the extra connections before I installed a new v-glide. I couldn't find any reference for them so I just clarify if there was an alternate configuration. I'll stick with original config. Seems like a waste of $$$ tho' to put in extra copper contacts for no reason. Thx y'all

Re: V-glide question
Can you put a 200 or 400 amp 36v solenoid on the v-glide without burning it up?

Re: V-glide question
Yes, it won't effect the Vglide.
The solenoid is an electronic switch. The 200 or 400 rating is how many continuous amps it can handle without damage. Your stock solenoid is about 70-80amps in that cart & a bigger solenoid won't hurt, it will not improve performance either. Hope this helps. |
