01 Club Car DS Controller and Motor problems
I just bought an 01 Club Car DS from my neighbor that was not working. I cleaned all the cables and battery terminals, charged it and was able to get it working briefly. The motor was making alot of noise when I would let off the gas pedal. I stopped and opened the engine cover so I could try to see what it was. When I pressed the gas it rocked forward and sparks shot out of the motor. Then the white wire going into the controller sparked and the box started smoking. So Im pretty sure I need new controller and motor. My question is when doing some research on the cart the solenoid on the left side with the coiled resistor wire only had 2 very small wires hooked to it. Looking at the wiring diagram it should have the large white wire going from the controller to the solenoid then to the motor. This cart only has the white wire going from the controller to the motor. No large wire connected to the solenoid at all. It has a Alltrax DCX300 controller in it, but should it still be wired like the original controller and wiring diagram shows. Just dont want to get a new motor and controller and have them burn up. Thanks for any help you can give me. This is my first cart project so I am learning all kinds of stuff already.

You can go to alltrax.com and find the install diagram for the DCX that fits your cart.
Does your cart have more than one solenoid? |

Regen 1 drive system ... The only replacement controls I know of are from FSIP (GE) They offer a 350 and 500 amp model.

Scotty, it's actually a Regen2 drive system. Regen1 died in 1997. Replacement parts are still available for this particular system. In fact, most of the FSIP controllers used on the upgraded IQ cars are 500Amp Regen2 controllers with adapter plugs.

Re: 01 Club Car DS Controller and Motor problems
I have the same type of issue here. I tried to order an FSIP controller for my 1999 CC DS regen 2 powerdrive and was told it would be at least mid-march...that they are having trouble getting them. Does any one have suggestions on what other controller I could use? Cart also has a V-glide...
