I want to give my cart a good washing, under the seat and the under carriage. Is there anything I should try to avoid getting wet?

Years ago I worked at a golf course and took care of their carts. They were electric CC's and we sprayed them down after every round, under the seat and the outside without any problems.

The only thing to be sensitive about is the speed controller in the back of the car, an even that is fairly water resistant.
The only problem you could ever have, is on a series car sometimes teh water will make the car not run until it dries, or not run in one direction. WD-40 usually speeds up the process of making it work again. |

Some Club Cars are bad about sounding the back-up buzzer when they are wet, even with the selector in N or F. No worry though. When it dries, it stops and it's nothing some canned air or a compressor hose and nozzle won't fix in a jiffy if air is blown on the micro switches.

I was at the dealer today and talked to a guy in the parts department. He said they use powerwashers on the carts (even under the seat) with no problem. He said to be careful around the V-Glide (mine is a 94) but other than that, have at it.
As he noted, most of these carts run on golf courses that have water on them in the mornings, they are designed to have some moisture under there with no problems. As a side note, he said they had a cart in the shop today that had been submerged in a pond. They dried it out and it is running again. |
