Yes
My acrt runs FLAT OUT 28.8mph in Police Radar calibrated and set to read in tenths
All I have done is fully charged my batteries, installed 21" tires and installed that Hi Speed motor yesterday

I called another Club Car Dealer in Mississippi who told me the codes are froo from Club Car Online, cause they do it on EVERY CART SOLD at their store, New or Used..........

He offered to do it for me for FREE, but, I had to drive there, and he said it would only make 3 to 4 mph difference

He also said that He installs Hi Speed Magnets on the Club Car Precedent Excel 2009 and below, and that is because Club Car reprogrammed the OBC to NOT accept the magnets in the Newer carts, which He can redo with his programmer and allow the use in even the 2013 carts

Not sure is this is all true, but, it is what I was told

He probably meant the controller was reprogrammed in the Excell system, not the OBC...
Sorry for keep asking, but this particular cart we are talking about is a "PH" or "PD" serial number?
I never heard of the Curtis 1515-5201 controller allowing that kind of speed with a code 3 programmed.

also keep in mind that a 5100 rpm motor is not really a torque motor, but more of a speed motor, you will not like the way the cart runs with the current set up and 26" tires, if you decide to do that.

This cart is a PD1208-XXXXX cart
They used somesort of Curtis hand held device and checked evenything out

I am not sure what controler I have
it is ALL STOCK except for the motor

It is a Precedent I2 Excel CHampion Edition cart
I purchased it brand new

The motor I put on it runs great, it has much increased torque from the get go and it reaches its top speed very quickly compared to the stock motor

I am only posting what I got done to it
I will be replacing My cables also
I plan on using #2 soft braid, and I will solder on the connetors rather then crimp on fittings
I plan to replace every cable from the batteries to the motor and to the controler, this way I will not have any weak links in the system

This cart is only used at the camp grounds, it is my personal camp ground unit
I have others that I rent out, but, this is my cart

It does what I needed it to do
I needed 25mph on Police Radar o get the permit to use it on the streets in the town I live in
as a neighborhood cart, they MUST reach the minimum speed limit of 25mph to be used on the city streets and they must be Radared and permitted, which I got done today

Thanks to everyone concerned and for the help you guy's provided to me

I will post pics as soon as I can

Thumbs up Re: Club Car Precedent I2 Excel Speed Upgrade

UPDATE: 11-08-13

Everything is still running smoothly
Cart still goes 28mph, I have been running it this way ever since I did it
Never left me anywhere. I roll it regularly for an hour or two while riding around toen. Never a problem with over heating as of yet.
I did notice that the batterys need to be charged about every 3rd day.
This isn't too bad.

Today I installed the new cables I made up myself.
I got some #2 welding cable, and I got #2 brass fittings and soldered them onto each end with heat shrink tubing on each.

I'll run this on radar with a fully charged battery pack and update you guy's with the results.

Plum Quick has told me that they can preform the Bandit upgrade to my old motor for $225 plus shipping. Just an FYI for those wishing to get more speed from a Club Car Precedent Excel System like mine.

I ONLY installed a new motor, I did not swap out the wiring harness, or controller. Just the motor swap out.....

Call Plum Quick about their Bandit Motor Swap out option.

Hi,

I saw your post on another thread but I think this one is more appropriate for the information...
If you call plumquick would you mind updating this thread with what they may now have for the Excel system that is compatible with the OEM controller?

That POLICE RADAR is my brother in laws unit
He iis the Sherrif Deputy here, and he calibrated in to read in tenths
He never goes out on patrole to do speed check points, he is the chief deputy

Just saying.

I have already called Plum Quick, and they tell me that their Bandit Upgrade will work on an Excel system with STOCK EVERYTHING, just like I have

Now rememmber, My cart has 14" wheels with 21" tires on it, that is why it goes 29mph.

Thanks

Smile Re: Club Car Precedent I2 Excel Speed Upgrade

Please keep us posted if you do this upgrade on one of your Excels.
Until recently, the only solution was to change the harness and the controller.
I hope is not a word play, but I am sure the motor works, but does it go any faster than the speed 3 set in the OEM controller.
The IQ systems can be fooled with a speed magnet so the motor will go faster, but the Excel system will monitor the RPM from the motor and cut the output if it thinks is outside the normal range (rpm x current).
The 3 inch in tire diameter increase cannot by itself explain the speed gains you got with the high speed motor.
Maybe the dealer you took the cart to knows some trick that no one else either knows or is willing to share about defeating the Excel system without having to buy speed 4.
Sounds pretty interesting

Dale-D How did you get #2 wire to fit through the hole in the OBC? I could barely get a #4 through it.
