Default 2004? Precedent battery light

I had a golfer drop what i believe is a 2004 precedent in with the 4 12v batteries. his complaint was after 9-12 holes cart gets weak and battery light comes on. so i plug it in and notice the charger not kicking on, look around and the lil breaker on front was tripped. popped it backed in and charger kicked on but the ammeter wasnt steady. kinda bobs around like from 15 amps to 10 amps but still charges and shuts off. i checked it while it was charging to make sure. i let it sit for about 8 hrs and it was at 51.4 volts, i took it out for a spin around the course and same thing happened. light comes on after a while and gets slower. he says the batteries are 2 1/2 years old. should i suspect the charger with bouncy ammeter or old batteries (as i hear these 12v ones dont last long). Also what would cause the bouncy meter? thanks for everyone that looks at my long post..... Bird

You're charger is broken and not fully charging the batteries. You can get a kit on ebay for $20 that includes the rectifier, relay, and breaker. My charger was doing the same thing yours was doing and the battery light kept coming on because the batteries weren't getting charged properly. Anyway, I replaced those three things and it is back to normal now. It is very easy to do also...
Just go to ebay and put in your charger model number and you will see the kit.

I would say OBC personally. If charger kicks on relay is working fine along with breaker and rectifier. The OBC controls the amount of time, volts and amps the batteries get unlike the older non IQ carts that the charger monitors itself.

. . . have you load tested the batteries and checked the SG of all the cells?
