I'm just wondering how often you water batteries on a fleet of Club Cars?

When I did work for a golf course, I had the guys clean and water the batteries every day on the days that particular cart was used. We had 70 carts and on busy days they usually all went out. The electrical connections were checked once a week. The only major issues we used to have is when folks decided to wash the cart in a lake!

If you did that at the end of the day, which you make it sound like, that was wrong.

I have taken over the responsibility of maintaining a fleet at a Florida course. What's more important to me is not what been done in the past, but what is right.

The manual says once a month, or as needed, and suggests visually checking the electrolyte level to determine that. They were last watered 45 days ago and every battery I have checked is OK. None have failed to do 36 holes a day. It is a flat course, with no extreme heat.

So, we are going to water them now, spot-check them, and try once a month.

Anyone else?

Once a month has been sufficient.

You cannot "over check" the electrolyte levels. Once a month would be the longest you should let them go without checking...

I don't disagree.

First, at my Summer course up north we service the batteries twice a month, the first and fifteenth. It is very hilly, and with heat much more severe than my Winter Florida course.

I took over the Florida fleet in November, with no sharing of anything regarding how things were done before me.

Yes, I started by "checking" fluid levels, meaning pulling off the autofills on several carts, and established that they were doing fine. I did the same after my first servicing. I have sampled carts several times since and have never found a dangerously low cell.

I check tires once a month, too.

Where ya at in MO? I know a Jake at a golf course there.

I had somewhat of a telephone showdown with our Club Car Dealer today. After no action from 4 months of emails to them about our faulty autofills, my GM wanted something done.

My contact was really stand-offish, what I refer to as stonewalling. much like our E Z Go dealer did for a long time. Then, since we have three carts that need to go in for other service, he said he would check out the autofill systems. He said if he saw anything wrong he would run it by Club Car.

I objected to that, saying I would prefer to line up all the ones I have had problems with and have him come over and watch me using our equipment and on all of them. That way everyone involved could observe all them at the same time. It would only take about a 1/2 hour and we're less than 15 mintues away.

He declined.

I believe I will do that for my GM, so they can see what I have seen.
