Default reduced uphill power/speed

I just bought a 1991 electric Club Car. It is fully charged and runs smoothly on flat terrain, but creeps uphill. What could be the likely causes?

I always start with the simple stuff first. Check the batteries to make sure they are in good shape. Check the water levels and fill with distilled water as needed. Make sure the p[ack is at full voltage after the overnight charge. Then check all of the battery cable connections to make sure they are corrosion free and tight.

Can you attach a digital multi-meter to the battery pack and run it uphill? Note the pack reading while at a stand still and then tell us what it drops to under load (going uphill) This will give a good indication of battery health.

Thanks scottyb and basshawk 84 for the suggestions. I haven't tried the uphill test with multimeter, but did find a few of the batteries needed distilled water. That alone did help some. Thanks again and I'll post future results
