Re: Reset without Run/Tow
What did not work ? The procedure is correct, how did you come to the conclusion that it did not reset. If the buzzer went off and finally died away the capacitor is discharged and the system has no power source, and the OBC will reset.

The reason I tried was to see if I could get one of the carts to quit charging. The charger won't go off. I assumed that the OBC was bad. After the procedure the charger still won't go off and I have several chargers so its not that I don't think. |

Does the buzzer normally work when you reverse?

Re: Reset without Run/Tow
It sounds as though the capacitor is shot because if the batteries are connected and the reverse sounds but does not sound when you disconnect the batteries then the capacitor is not storing power. However if the capacitor is not storing power then the OBC should reset. The quickest method of checking whether its the OBC or Charger is to find a charger that you know switches off and plug it into a cart that does not switch off with its charger. If that charger does not switch off its the OBC thats the issue.

Re: Reset without Run/Tow
The reverse does sound when I disconnect the batteries and it goes off when I push on the pedal like it says. I'm just saying that when I went through the process of trying to reset the OBC that it didn't fix my problem of over charging (chargers wont shut off for specific carts after the try at resetting the OBC)
I tried the reset process on a couple other carts that I have been having problems with and that didn't stop the problem of overcharging either. Looks like I just need a new OBC I guess. Thanks for the help Mike |

Re: Reset without Run/Tow
OBC reset is not 100% effective at fixing an OBC problem. Also, are you saying the charger does not shut off after 16 hours?
You could have a bad bat in the pack that will cause this same symptom and result in overcharging the good bats, the bad bat will not allow the pack to come up to voltage to alert the obc to shut off the charger. You might want to check your bat readings witha voltmeter. |

Re: Reset without Run/Tow
Went ahead and put a new comp on one of the carts and it seems to be having the same issues. (charger won't go off) Charger stays charging at a high rate 16 amp and the lowest after a few hours I saw it go down to was around 12 amps. Went ahead and let it try and charge all night and the charger did shut off but the battery light was flashing on and off. Checked all the batts and they were 8.2 to 8.25 individually and across all of them was only 48.5. Put the cart up against the wall and started it in drive and the batts went down to 44 with a slight load. These are fairly new Crown batts...
Just afraid to put the charger on this cart and another one that is doing about the same thing. Any ideas on where I go from here... Can one of the bats be bad even thought they all read over 8V individually? Thanks |
