Default New prospect... 2008 DS IQ... should I?

Hey guys and gals,

I am a current EZGO guy but have ran into a nice possible prospect.
It is a 2008 IQ (AQ083. It is a 48v with the 4 12v batteries. It is green in color white top white seat, including white flip flop seat. Factory height on a 10" ITP wheels.

The unit has a pushbutton forward and reverse on the kick panel below seat and it has a run tow switch.

The problem is, it is slow, factory slow. I haven't looked at the motor or controller, I am assuming it is all 2008 stock. What can be done for some more speed and torque? I understand you get what you pay for, maybe looking at some low budget mods. Figure this is going to stay a road cart and not going to convert it like my EZGO to a lifted unit.

Is this a great unit for a Club Car? He is wanting my EZ GO and is wanting to do some trading.

Thanks

I don't know about cheap but could upgrade motor, controller and wires and make it faster..guy has a Alltrax DCX 400 listed at good price right now and then could get ahold of EMP or Plum Quick and get motor.

Surely after 70 some views, I could at least get more than one gentlemens opinion. Maybe that speaks enough volume on the possibility of my first CC.

Club car hands down over ezgo.

How fast you want to go? You can have a dealer reprogram that controller and get around 19 mph, for more it will take a new motor and controller.

Thank you, speed chaser. This what I am looking for. What I was considering was an Alltrax controller. I was concerned with the 4x12v battery setup vs the 6x8v

I am not a fan of the 12 volts, that is what I bought a 2008 Preceden IQ with used 12 volt bats, they made it for about 8 monthe and they I converted to 8v bats. It will take some modding to the bat bucket to fit 8's though (not sure if that DS has a bat bucket though). Some people think the 12's are fine but I use mine for golf and the 12's dont really cut it for me, run time is too limited.

You can mod the carriage to hold six 8 volts if you don't like the four 12's.

The possibilities are endless I would definitely jump on it if your happy with the deal your getting as you can definitely get the speed and torque your looking for with a few mods..So I say go for it and let us know how it turns out and the resources here are endless when you start upgrading the cart and there is so many great people here that will help out in anyway they can if you have questions..

As you can see in my signature, I have customized my current cart, with lift, speed in motor and controller, the only thing left is a back seat and maybe an update of better quality of batteries. So for around 300 I can get the back seat that I need. But it seems like it gets snubbed for the yr. a 97. Which I can't understand why folks get so hung up on yr, its not like its a titled vehicle. I have realized after building an off road capable cart that I am not going to offroad that maybe a on road cart is the option, especially when a guy is willing to trade me a 2008 for my 1997 (since it seems to be such a huge deal in resale). The one thing I notice on for sale forum here and on ebay, that if someone just can't steal it they don't want to pay good money for someone's cart. If you don't believe me, go to the for sale section and look over the last couple of months of carts for sale. I know we as humans as build and modify people by nature, but when you can buy already modified for cheaper than you can build, why not do it. For an example look at that awesome Precedent that is up for sale now, or bokeasmole's EZGO road cart. I am not used to putting money in sinking ships, I have been successful in real estate, vehicles (up to 78 and I am only 39 yrs old) I have only lost on 1 vehicle and I have only had one car payment. Boats, campers. But these carts are more like Harleys hard to get residual value back out of it you need to get your seed back. I have a passion for these carts, because my whole family loves them, but they are unlike any other vehicle/hobby/investment that I have ever dealt with. Sorry to vent
