Default V-glide question

What is the difference between a V-Glide and a Potentiometer. Is one better than the other?

They are 2 different kind of v-glides...One has a potentiometer and the older style resistor has contacts.

Roady, does the V-Glide for controller carts have an actual variable resistor or does it have resistors on stepped contacts?

Ooops...sorry rooster. I got a little confused there. It has resistors on stepped contacts. That why when you looked at it you couldn't see a pot.
