Time for a NEW project..

Well, I finally decided to start another cart project after the wife has been telling me to do it.. No reason to argue.

I've got a DS 02' 48v being dropped off tomorrow. Not sure what it looks like, but my buddy says its in really good shape (both running & looks) and I went ahead and had them put new batteries in it.

I want to make a really cool street legal cart and hoping I can do it with this one. Worst case we clean it up and flip it. Got a really great deal.

Sounds like a good plan. I too am starting a DS project of my own. What are you thinking--LSV type street legal or a lifted/plated rig?

I'm not really sure yet, but I'm leaning the direction of not lifting. Just not sure yet. Maybe lift with some really large wheels and low profile tires.
I kind of wanted to do a gas project, but it is a real challenge trying to find gas Club cars around here that do not cost a fortune. Plus I feel more comfortable doing the electric and I really do like the fact that I don't have to carry gas cans.

I've got a lot of research to do before I even get started. Plus I'm going camping this weekend to sit by the fire and drink.. The cart will be dropped off and then we leave. I will just put it in the garage and think about it..

Before you leave, take pictures of the cart at different angles and print them out. Take them with you along with a note pad and a pen.

That way if you have any down time, or are just thinking of what you would like to do to it, you have the pictures to look at and can write down your ideas.

Would like to see some pics as you go also, not many people doing the carts here in oz, especially down south, I'm thinking it could be a good little earner here. Funny you say the gas cars are pricey, it's the opposite here and with a battery pack costing $1200 I'm surprised more people don't chase the gas carts. Enjoy the camping and look forward to seeing the project.

Hornsta, I sure will post pics. Talking about batteries, I got 6 new 8v batt's from this guy for $650. I think they are Excide's, but for that price I'll take them.

No problem, it's what I do with any project I work on actually.

I have a build list of sorts that I built for Microsoft Office Word listing the different sections of any vehicle that I print out to scribble ideas down on too.

Looking forward to seeing the project!

Well, I took possession of the new cart yesterday. This little dude flies compared to what I'm used to for a standard cart. I got this dude for $1450 with brand new batteries!!! What a deal!!! It even has a horn and I'm pretty sure brake lights. Didn't have time to check them before I left, but the peddle is wired with something.

Now I have to start learning about this style. It is just what I was hoping it wasn't.. Sepex. LOL.. I was really hoping it was a Series and forgot to tell my buddy what type to look for other than 48v Club. Oh well, just have to learn it and start creating a list of what to do.
