Default Look what santa brought me....I mean the kids.

07 Club Car DS
stock motor and controller

On Christmas day the car had tons of torque and was really fast. Over the last two days the cart has slowed down. I have noticed that when you step on the pedal it takes off fast for about 3 seconds and then slows down, you can actually hear the motor slow. After that it takes off slower and maintains the same the slower top speed for the rest of the day. However, if I turn the cart off, put it in neutral, flip it to tow then back to run, turn it back on, and put it in forward it will take off fast again and then slow down after a few seconds.

The dealer I got it from won't be back at the shop until Monday. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, I did some reading in the sticky section and I now think I have a speed sensor problem. I drove the cart for a minute or so, let it come to a stop, then got off the cart and began pushing it as fast as I could then let it roll for 15 or 20 feet. I felt no resistance or braking which should indicate a faulty speed sensor according to my reading. What is the life expectancy of one? Could there be anything else wrong that could cause the speed sensor to tear up?

Yep, I was thinking speed sensor...
I am not real sure about the life expectancy on them.
The faulty speed sensor is causing the cart to go into limp mode.
Once you get a new sensor, you should be back to speed again!

+1 on the speed sensor, and a very nice Christmas present!

Thanks guys. I definately don't want to be in "limp mode".
