2004 Club Car DS Villager - remodel number 2

I've had all of this running under a separate thread title, but wanted to move away from that thread and make a general build thread.

Cart as purchased
I bought this cart in 2010 as a 2004 Club Car DS Villager, which is basically a DS IQ cart with factory rear seat and extended top.



Remodel #1
Within a few months of buying, I made some initial changes to the cart that should be documented in an older thread somewhere here on BGW, but basically I added these items:

Jakes 3" spindle lift
Alltrax 400 amp DCX controller
turn signal lighting kit
front/rear seat belts
20x10x10 tires on 10" wheels.

We drove it this way for the past 2 years and it performed great.




Remodel #2
A couple of months ago, I needed to replace my front two tires which were worn completely bald. Of course, this simple action lead to an excuse to remodel a second time. This time around, I've made a few more changes that I hope to carry us through the next 3 or 4 years of cart usage.

Those changes included:
New batteries
22x11x10 tires on 10" wheels
Alltrax 500 amp DCX controller
Plum Quick bandit motor
folding rear cargo/seat
black extended top
front windshield and strut
front seat bottom/back cushions - newer style 1 piece & buff
seat belt bars to fit new seat brackets
front brush guard
Jakes 4" double a-arm lift
Scottyb battery cables
400 amp HD solenoid
Rear axle/differential assembly
Grant steering wheel & adapter


Obviously, some of these items replaced stuff from remodel #1, and some of them are additional. I sourced a good bit of the items used from a nearby dealer, like the windshield strut and seat cushions. The rear axle was a 2007 used one from Plum Quick.

So, the million dollar question I keep having to answer now is why didn't I just sell this one and buy a new one. Well, in the long run it would have been easier and might have been a few bucks cheaper up front, but anyone on this site knows that we can't leave well enough alone. Besides, most of the ones I've seen for sale locally only have superficial upgrades done to them like cheap lifts and seat covers, but a price similar to what I have in mine for a full upgrade. Who knows what's best, but I like doing the project myself.


Lastly, Probable items left to add in future:
Black diamond plate kick plate
Black diamond plate rocker panels
Black dash assembly
Rear hitch receiver
Canvas cover for cold day driving
Possible taller rear roof struts or brackets as these make the top seem a little low in back.

Your cart looks awesome.

You'd have to spend double what you put into it if you just purchased it from somewhere else. AND, you know it's been done right!

I like it!

I've had to answer that question quite a few times with my '86 DS. My response has been and always will be: "Because I know what's been done to it because I did it!"

When you purchase a modified cart, unless you see the cart being built or know the person doing the work, you can't always trust the quality of the work nor the quality of the parts being put into it so it can be sold for more money!
