Default Battery Question

I have a 97club card i need new bateries. I was told i could buy 4 6 volt batteries and 2 8 volt and hook them up same way and get more power. is this true or will I mess up my cart

It is always a bad idea to mix batteries in any way: different voltage, different sizes (AH capacity), or different ages. It's even a bad idea to tap the pack to get 12 volts for lights or radio, as it unbalances the charge in the batteries.

And, of course, how are you going to charge such a mish-mosh?

I was thinking that myself. i was just curious if it was somet hing that was a common upgrade or if the fellow that told me was just talking crap. thanks for the advice. i think i will stick with 6 volts.

Mixed batteries suffer in the recharge cycle. 6 and 8v have different amperage capacity and that means one gets undercharged while the other gets over charged.
