Just thought I'd show exactly what the tops of the batteries looked like due to gassing. They actually get a worse than this and sometimes run down the sides. No big deal though, I'll just keep cleaning them off.

. . . you may be filling them too high . . . just keep plates covered by about 1/4" of liquid . . . don't fill to the bottom of the ring inside . . .

Always add water AFTER charging not before. THe level does rise after charging.
