Default IQDM-P doesn't work when plugged into controller

This is what I came across today :

2006 precedent IQ. 4 brand new 12 USBatterys. Cart and everything works fine.

I wanted to plug in my IQDM-P, to see what speed setting he had. I plugged into the port under the dash, and nothing? I drove the cart around the block, then plugged in the device again, and still nothing?

I took the dash apart, and made sure the wires were still connected to the port, which they were.

Got my manual out, and it said to remove the 4 pin connector from the controller, and plug IQDM-P directly into controller. I did, still nothing?

I then plugged my device into a different cart, and it works fine.

So my question is why does my device not work , when plugged into the controller?. That eliminates the wiring and the port.

Anyone?

I have come across a few controllers that can't be read with iqdm either for some reason. Something internally wrong with those connections I guess but it does happen.

That means the port under the dash in this particular cart is useless?

So I can't program/change things like speed code, pedal up etc?

I wonder how you would change the speed code 4 in this case?

Like I said I have ran into a handful that even when plugged directly into controller still won't work. If you have disconnected power beforehand try putting key on, tow switch to run and step on gas pedal. If that doesn't get programmer to initialize it just won't work from all my experiences.

There's something wrong with that controller. Your IQDM-P is working fine.

David :

Since the cart seems to be running ok, even though the IQDM-P won't work on it, is it ok to keep driving the cart?

What do you think will happen? Do I need to do anything?

Thanks

Yes cart is fine to use if its running good...from my experience its usually just the iqdm programming circuit with the problem. If you start experiencing running issues well then thats another story....

David, update here.

The precedent that i tried the IQDM on, that did not work, is a 2007.

Yesterday, I used my IQDM on a 2005 and a 2009 precedent, works great.

Yesterday afternoon, i plugged into a 2009 precedent, everything orginal including tires and batteries, and the IQDM does not light up!

I pulled my 2005, the original 2007, and the 2009 all side by side, and wnet from cart to cart with the device, and still the IQDM will not work on the 07 or 09??????????????

No hint of the tool starting, at all.

I need to find out, what is going on, so in the future, I don't waste my time or a customers.

The above mentioned 2009 precedent, was bought from a cc dealer, and that dealer installed code 4 on the cart, i see the code stickers on the cart, and it runs very fast. I am just wondering, is there anything that a person or dealer can do to the controller, to disable the controller from communicating with the IQDM?

I was wondering if they can disable it so a customer has to return to them for repairs etc?

Very strange both of these carts, won't trigger my IQDM, when i have used this on many other carts.

Hope you can enlighten me???

Are you trying to plug in DIRECTLY to the controller on both cars? I see that port under the dash get dirty and become worthless often.
