Default After Guide Ring replacement what else?

I have removed the 48 volt motor....no easy task. FIRST....I have glued a new guide ring in and will wait at least 24 hours before putting in the retaining ring. The old GR looked fine to me but replaced anyway.
BEFORE I reinstall the Motor....
What else could be bad. The motor and cart ran fine before except there was a slight knocking sound in reverse as you engage the accelerator.
When driving the cart in forward it ran fine and quiet as long as there was resistance (accelerating or uphill). Once you found top speed with the accelerator buried a groaning sound began (downhill).
I am assuming that the replacement of the guide ring will correct this.
BUT I do not want to have to pull this motor again....not sure how I'm going to get it back into the cart now (may turn the cart on it's side as I have pulled the batteries to get to the motor). Any other part that could be bad,
I'd like to replace now. Suggestions or others experiences.
The help I've rec;d from you guys has been great!
THANKS

I like to back my cart onto ramps to R&R the motor. I can fit under it with the motor on my chest. Make sure you have the brakes on and a brick or similar object to chock the front wheels. "Safety first"

Thanks to all who helped my post or previous posts from others.
I researched and researched....everyone said replace the guide ring
and noise will stop. I replaced it and NOISE STOPPED.
Was not very confident as the old GR looked fine to me.
I also changed the oil in the differential while I was down there.
Changed to Mobile 1 synthetic ....75W-90 wvenb though 30W
was recommended. Quiet as can be.
THANKS!!
