CLub Car Run time

I recently picked up a '98 Club Car (36 volt), and I am looking to increase my run time (Ok, I am waaaay too far out of shape to increase anything, so lets say that I am referring to the cart). I used it this past weekend at the local tractor pull/swap meet, and I had to plug it in to the charger about halfway through the day. I have seen the solid state coversions, but if I am reading correctly, they are mainly for a torque/power increase. I am not looking to increase my torque or power, just get a longer run time. It has brand new batteries (2 weeks old according to previous owner), and I keep the cart on a charger/maintainer.

I think your cart is similar to the way my 36v 91' was wired up and those old 36v carts drain the batteries faster than the solid state. The reason is because they open the battery amps fully once the peddle is pushed and use resistors to control the speed of the cart.
Having solid state controls allows the cart to only pull the power from the batteries needed to move at the desired speed.

I know from my experience that upgrading to solid state has definitely increased the amount of run time on my cart.
