Battery Watering system
I have been reading about the Trojan Battery watering system and finally put one on this weekend. I only wish I had done this months ago. I was lucky and my local dealer had a used one. The total drive out cost was only $40.00 which sure beats a new system cost of around $185.00. For those of you that have been thinking about putting one on go for it. It works as advertised.

Re: Battery Watering system
I get them for $120 and they not only make it easy to water your batteries but there is no acid buildup on terminals and stuff because of leaking ports. One of the best upgrades that goes unrecognized.

Re: Battery Watering system
You guys are all absolutely right! The single point watering system is an awesome addition. It is also something that gets overlooked quite often.
Along with the above mentioned benefits, they of course eliminate batteries being overfilled and leaking on your chassis or on to your floor where you store your cart. We include them with every cart we sell! Great job on bringing this feature to light! |

Re: Battery Watering system
Any time maintenance is neglected, there is always consequences, maybe not right way but eventually.
That was a great link to share to remind us of the importance to ensure you keep your batteries maintained. Thanks rib33024 |

Re: Battery Watering system
I suppose the worst thing about the auto-fill system is that you won't routinely check the actual level, terminal connections, etc. What do the experts here think of a manual auto-fill outfit (oxymoron?) like these auto-shutoff devices:
They look like they'd be handy... |

Re: Battery Watering system
I have a fill jug with auto shut off but do not use it cuz it over fills the bats, now i pour in water with a water bottle so I can see the level while filling.
Biggest problem I see with the flow rite is valve failure and the only way you will know is by pulling the caps, not sure how hard that is to do compared to regular caps but I bet it is going to detour a person from checking, so you could have a low cell or more without knowing. Manually sucks but it is the most precise way to monitor bat levels and not that huge a deal if you only have one cart, or maybe two. I would save the money and make a habit of checking the bats, moreso when temps rise. |

Re: Battery Watering system
With the Trojan self watering system, the "caps" are all one unit with a little clear view area that shows white or black depending on if water is needed.
With Trojan system it is just as easy to check your water levels by removing the single all in one cap as it is with the non self watering system. We suggest to our customers to visually check the clear view after each charge to ensure it is "happy" then after the first month simply pop off the covers and see if in fact everything is at the correct levels. Once they are comfortable and understand the system we tell them to still visually inspect the clear view indicator after each charge and then do a physical maintenance every 3 months on the battery back, which includes removing the caps. Of course this is also based on useage and temperature. In other words we tell our customers to use some common sense when it comes to their battery packs and realize that "over" maintaining your batteries is not a bad thing. You can see the 12 volt system has 2 caps per battery and the 8 volt system uses one. For people who still don't like the single point watering system there is always the quick release caps, that make it really simple to do maintenance as well. There is a solution for everyone |

Re: Battery Watering system
I have seen a whole lot of single batteries explode for who knows why and that is just the nature of the beast. I have been using the trojan watering system since it came out and managing fleets of carts with the fill rite system and never seen a stuck or bad valve yet on any of them. Its such a simple system but like anything else mechanical COULD go wrong. I have so many older customers with arthritis and other ailments that use there golf cart to get around and you can only imagine how hard it would be for them to fill each individual port on a battery. Many dont even bother checking there batteries because of what a pain it is for them. I have sold many of these just for that reason.
