It spins with the motor. By installing half of it the controller will see fewer pulses and allow the cart to go faster. That is how the "Speed" magnet works. It has fewer magnetic poles.

I have a club car with a motor that smells like a structure fire amd pulled the magnet just to see how easy it is. Used the can opener amd it came right out. In 3 pieces of course.

The
paint and bottle openers were both too flimsy. We decided to use a needle nose vise grip. The Mission was accomplished a few minutes later. Thanks and good luck to everyone else.

I did take the two screws out! Any suggestion on how to get them back in? Do I have to take the cover off the motor? If so how do I line it all back up. I think I am in big trouble.

Motor has to come out now. Then line the holes back up and put the screws back in

Take one of the screws to the hardware store and match it up with a much longer one of the same threads. Get two of them. You can start the longer screw and it will keep the bearing retainer in place while you assemble the rest of the motor. Once you get the motor assembled, change one screw at a time while installing the short ones.

Just wanted to update this thread for others who have had a speed magnet go out on a GE motor. I purchased this item thinking it would bypass the broken magnet and save me the aggravation of having to pull it. However this item will only work if your existing speed sensor and magnet are working. The details and reviews are deceiving, it will give you more speed however both speed sensor and magnet have to be communicating properly. If there are no existing speed pulses dont waste your money.
