Default 91 Club car DS 36 v battery power runs down quick

Good afternoon. I have not been on here in quiet a while. I have a weird problem going with club car. The cart has 4 6volt batteries and 2 8volt batteries. The cart starts out with good power but dies off pretty fast. I noticed that the pedal was real rough feeling when you press the pedal and some spots the cart would quit running. So at this point I put on another V Glide assy. Cart pedal is alot smoother but the cart still doesen't stay strong like it should. I was driving the cart out in a field and all of a sudden I get smoke. I lift the seat to find the V Glide on fire. What in the world am I missing on this thing. This cart has the old resistors.

You can not do a couple of the things you listed.
You can not mix 6 and 8 volt batteries in a pack and you can not increase voltage thru a 36v Vglide - it will melt.
If you want to increase voltage you need to convert to modern solid state speed control.

Thank you scotty. I didn't think that was a good idea. Some battery dude said oh it will be fine I do it all the time. Now I got burnt parts.

You read that ........ usually followed by 'what the hell!?'

You can't charge 6 and 8v in the same pack, they have different capacities and charging needs. So you're killing one or the other when you charge them together. And I have never seen a 36v resistor coil cart with a voltage boost that did not melt something eventually.

Tried it my self. In theory it would run WOT without a problem. That's how I drove it WOT and then coast, WOT and coast... one day my lovely wife jumped in it and putted over to the neighbors place. Half way home it went up in smoke . And she was mad

If you are using a 36v charger you are under charging the 2 8v batteries. Therefore you have less power time. The 8v are almost dead before you start out.

Thank ya'll very much for the info. I won't let any old battery guy tell me that again thats for sure. I will come on here first to ask next time. The cart ran good at WOT but at half throttle is when the problem happened.New V glide on the way and out with these stupid 8volts.Live and learn lol
