Motor rebuild gone bad
I have just replaced the brushes and bearing on my 2000 48volt ds. Everything went back together well untill the motor will not run. The motor is heating up. I took it down spoon the motor still nothing. I quite working on it for the day, but did not put it to tow. Twenty minutes later there was a burning smell. Not sure If the motor or controller are burnt. Any ideas on what could be causing this.

You have found the best place to come for golf cart questions... Did you hook every wire back up correctly? It sounds like either the controller or motor has fried |

Re: Motor rebuild gone bad
From looking at my pics I took before it was taken apart. I think the wires were in the correct spot. Is it possible to swap the position of the posts on the brushes. This would have changed where the wires hook up.

Re: Motor rebuild gone bad
Motor back together seems to be working fine. The problem was the posts on one of the brushes was installed incorrectly. The two posts on the brushes should be on the side closer to the end. which the larger wires hook to,this is the positive side.

Re: Motor rebuild gone bad
That motor may fail if the windings got burned inside. I'd be looking for a replacement just to have on hand when it goes!
