Default Controller

Is it possible to buy a controller from someone with speed code 4 and have it work on my cart without it being installed on my cart when the speed code was installed. In other words if one of you guys has a stock controller with speed code 4 and you upgrade, would that controller then work on my cart, or would the code have to be installed after installed on my cart.

It would work great, if it is the same exact controller. Too bad I just traded my old one for some parts. I had speed code 4/private and regen turned down to min. My old motor (commander high speed) did about 28 with that controller.

Steve-
Was your cart bone stock with that Commander motor?
28 mph is very good...
My cart is stock with speed code 4 now with stock motor and I get the 19.6

So if I could find a 1510A-5251 with code 4 in it. Then it would work as speed code 4 in my cart. ?

Thank you. Now the hunt is on.
I think my cart man locked out my controller by not installing code 4 correctly or something. I have been trying to get him to put code 4 in for 6 months now. He tried once and said it would not take it. Keeps telling me he is waiting on club car to get back with him on more instructions or something.
What I have works just fine , but it is at code 3.

Is your "cart man" an authorized CC dealer?
I have never heard of them locking out...

He says he is. He had a bunch of papers in a plastic bag. I think they were from club car. I have known this guy for a long time. He is a good guy, I just think maybe he is in over his head. I thought I read somewhere that three tries to program code 4 and not do it correct the controller would lock you out and had to be sent back to club car. I just bought this controller last summer.

I have one collecting dust with speed code 4, but maybe you should look into a magnet for the speed sensor if you have the ADC Motor.

Thanks, That is where I started. I ordered a magnet. Then when I reached under the cart and removed the two screws on each side of the speed sensor,I knew I had the wrong motor when I felt the bearing retaining ring drop. At that point I pushed my cart onto my trailer and took it to my cart guy. I had put it in tow before I started on it. I told my cart man what I had done, he said he could pull the motor and replace the screws. When I went back to check on it, he said my controller was bad. It was all working fine before I took the screws out. Not sure if the retained ring could have shorted, or maybe when the motor was removed it got shorted. At any rate I paid for a new controller, plus motor repair. I have tried the speedy link. But it caused my cart to do what seemed like a slip. It would be pulling then slip and catch again. I took the speedy link off and it runs normal. I would still like to get a little more speed. I get 15mph now. The speedy link gave me 20 to 22mph. I think if I could get speed code 4 it would do okay.
My cart is a 2003 DS IQ.
