Club Car Brakes
Hi All,
I have a precedent '06 model and it has the 6" allsports lift kit. I just added the heavy duty rear springs and once installed the brakes feel extremely tight. Does this mean that I need different brake cables or is there a way to adjust them so there not so tight? Thanks |

Re: Club Car Brakes
I have (or had) a similar issue with the tight pedal, except I had no stopping power. Do you have stopping power?
See my post below. I posed a similar question to the group, so I'll be interested to see your responses and/or solution if you come up with one. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...ake-issue.html |

Re: Club Car Brakes
You might be able to pull floor and there is cover that comes off and there you will see where the brake cables come in..You can adjust the tension of the brakes by loosening the nuts on both sides of the long adjuster and add some slack in it then run both nuts on ends back tight

Re: Club Car Brakes
I just got off the phone with one of the techs at Allsports and he instructed me not to use the brake cable clips that attach to the spring bolts on each side. He said to just let the cables hang. I did reattach these yesterday when I put the new leaf springs on. I'll try taking them off and see if that makes a difference.

Re: Club Car Brakes
I just took the clip off that attaches the driver side brake cable to the front of the rear leaf spring off and the brakes work fine now. Hope this helps others with this issue.

Re: Club Car Brakes
cadillac, can you post a pic of what you are referring to? The only spring I have, or at least I can see, on my cable is up near the equalizer plate (the plate underneath the seat area that pulls on the brake cables when you press on the pedal). I don't see a spring anywhere around where the cable passes through the axle area around the leaf springs. thanks.

Re: Club Car Brakes
Rammer I have a 2007 when I installed my HD springs had to do the same thing.
They are at the end of your cable before the wire comes out and attaches to your break drum. Mine pushes through bracket then the ears spring out and holds cable. Im thinking this is what he was talking about when he said spring. |

Re: Club Car Brakes
The clips cadillac is talking about are brake cable hangers. (#2 in pic)
I removed both drivers and passenger side hangers. |

Re: Club Car Brakes
Thanks lockman, that's easy enough. The previous owner must have already removed those clips as I definitely do not have those. My cables are a straight run from the equalizer plate to the axle (like a perfect Y shape).
