Default Resetting OBC

I own a 2008 Club Car P and saw the sticky about resetting the OBC (procedures). Very new at this golf car ownership and have to ask; why would you need to reset the OBC? I am running down a slow moving cart problem and believe it is the speed sensor. I will run the sticky test tonight to check (very helpful sticky). Cart has all the symptoms, new batteries, fully charged, takes off with get up and go but immediately slows down to a slow speed.

Mpsgm I believe resetting the OBC is for charger issues only, I know on my cart I tried to resett the OBC because my charger was not working and on club cart (at least the Precedent) the OBC and the charger work together.
I had no buzzer after the the resett so I decided I would also due the bypass inside my charger (found this process on BGW) charger kicked on so my OBC was bad.
I ordered me a new DPI charger and will bypass the OBC to operate my charger.

Mpsgm slow moving cart issue very well could be your speed sensor and you are correct very good sticky I used it myself a few weeks back and determined my speed sensor was bad.

BGW if my comments are incorrect regarding the OBC resett would you please correct me?.

Oh yeah Mpsgm welcome to BGW//

Thanks Dadog70. Looks like the change of the sensor is fairly easy with snap and a couple of screws. Of course the cramped access looks to be a challenge. Do you know of any Pics or videos available that walks a person through the sensor changing?

. . . block front wheels, jack up rear of cart, pull rear passenger wheel and voila, access to speed sensor . . .

Thanks, conducted sensor test (sticky)---free bird on the rolling without resistance. Ordered sensor and hope that does it.

Got the sensor, not much to that thing, all plastic. What besides being old causes them to go out? Mind, you I have not put the new one on yet?

Hoping there was not another piece I should have ordered.

. . . speed sensors either work or don't work . . they read the impulses from the multi-pole magnet that is on the back end of motor shaft . . as long as magnet is not broken, what you have should be "good to go" . . . 2 screws and a quick connect and you are back in business . . .

As Steve says unless magnet is broken behind speed sensor, all should be fine. UNLESS you have a broken wire from the speed sensor. OR a loose, corroded connection from the sensor.
