Default A couple Controller questions...

2007 Precedent...

This winter while me son was filling the batteries during a rain storm delay on the course with a water hose, the cart obviously got something wet and died dead! The precharge resistor burned in too. From help from this site the verdict was the controller was out. Therefore I'm ordering Scotty B's controller and solenoid upgrade that comes with new precharge resistor. Hopefully that solves the problem. So here are my questions.

1. When I install the upgraded solenoid and controller if there is another issue can I potentially ruin another controller? That would be an expensive mistake!

2. The batteries will be out and the tow run on tow so are there any other steps to insure I don't fry the controller when I hook it up?

3. Obviously, I haven't been able to use the charger this winter but one odd thing is that when I hook my independent charger to all my batteries to keep them fresh, one of the four won't show that it's hooked up. the rest show there hooked up and charge and this problem just popped up? I'm going to unhook it from the cart wires tonight but confused on why it won't show it's hooked up. If I find another ground it hooks up fine and the charger activates but not when the system is all hooked up. Is this normal?

4. If the controller and or solenoid got smoked is there anything else that may have fried?

Thanks in Advance for any and all help!

In reading and reading some more it seems the obc could also potentially be bad but it only controls the charging and ability to charge correct? More than likely replacing the solenoid and controller should allow the cart to operate and if it won't charge Ive got an Obc that needs replaced. Sound right?

Everything else was working fine before the incident so it's more than likely the controller and solenoid got fried? Sound right?

You are corect on the OBC but after everything is hooked up and before replacing the OBC I would verify by doing a bypass on the OBC to determine it is bad. Then you have the question of replacing the OBC are purchasing a new charger.

What I have read about the charger and the OBC is if the batteries dont have at least
42V the charger will not kick on (I hope I quoted that correct?) so verify pack voltage

If you're cooking the pre-charge resistor you've got a bad controller or an internal short in your motor, which didn't happen from washing it. Replace the controller and you'll be good to go.
