Default Precedent 'loping'? Hops at all speeds.

2006 Precedent 48V. Just got it a few weeks ago and was told it has the high speed controller. It goes 19-20 mph at top speed. Batteries probably need replacing soon. After leaving off charger for a few days I notice dim headlights and it starts to slow. They're 2010.

When I got it I thought the tires were bad as it loped or hopped while going down the street. The tires were pretty bad anyway so I just replaced them. It continued to hop. I've now noticed at top speed it will hop but every minute or two it will quit for a minute and start doing it again. It does the same thing at low speed at the same rate so I've ruled out axle, wheel, etc. Any chance it could be the batteries?

Getting kinda tired of wearing my drink so any help is much appreciated.

2010 batteries aren't that old.....How is the water in them? Did they ever go dry?

If you can GPS the cart at 19-20 mph after a couple hours of use I doubt the batteries are that bad. Jack up all the wheels and see if you can get any play in them or feel anything loose. If tires have proper air in them and its a mechanical problem it shouldn't be hard to figure out.

Sounds like you need a good quality front end alignment. Excessive toe or camber can make these things act crazy.

Don't know if the batteries ever went dry as I've only had it a month. I wouldn't have thought it would be the front end since it comes and goes at the same speed. I'll lift it up and check and see if I can find anything. Otherwise, I'll see if I can get the front end checked. Thanks for the help.

Could be bushings and or tie rod ends bad in front end causing the intermitant hopping , loping or shaking. You say tires were bad. All or just the front ones? Of course they could of been rotated too if all were bad.

Loose or bad front axle bearings will cause this problem too!!

Ok,so I've dug in a bit more. I switched all of the tires around and have the same problem. When I removed the driver's side wheel, it didn't appear that the hub or spindle was bent, but it looked like there was a wobble when I spun the tire. I tried to adjust the tie rod and when I turn it, it's obviously bent. I wonder what else could be bent down there. If I've got to change out the tie rod (it appears to be the threaded part that's bent, not the female side), it would be nice to change out whatever else might be down there. And FYI, when I adjusted it, the tie rod started rubbing against the inside of the rim. Maybe that helps.
