Default 2008 Precedent Controller Help (Stock or Aftermarket)

Good Eveing All, I have always come here when I have a question regarding my cart but never posted so here it goes. 1) I did search but it was from my iphone as I am traveling, so if there is a topic already indepthly covering this topic please politely point me in that direction. 2) I've had my cart since it was new, put her in storage end of fall and got her out last Friday. FWI: storage is one of my heated garages with my bus, so battery's don't freeze. Anyway TO THE POINT. The cart was crawling. Having the original batteries I assumed that they needed to be replaced. Went to my local US Battary dealer he was out of both 8 volt and 12 volt, as my cart is still the old (4) 12 configuration. I then went out to my Tojan dealer who was out of 890's & 875's. I needed my cart in a trailer today so back to 1275 it was :(. Old set was at 42.7 volts. New was 51.2. Plugged it in and poof. FIRE. Apparently my controller has gone bad and the resister went along with it. No signs of water damage so I'm not positive why it went bad. Once I turned to tow switch to run the buzzer was on constantly, called my local Club Car dealer hoping he had magic fix and while on the phone is when it began smoking. Now I need a new controller. My dealer has quoted me $600. I order my cart with the fastest setting I could but now I have an opportunity, SHOULD I BUY A STOCK CURTIS CONTROLLER OR AN AFTERMARKET?

Keeping the following things in mind:
• I do want to go to (6) 8 Volts (maybe as soon as next week) ; so a controller flexible enough to handle both configurations would be great.
• I have my cart registered as an LSV. Speed is always nice.
• I have my eye on an Alltrax 600 Amp unit, will it work with my setup (Stock)
• I'd like to keep my budget at or under $600.00 maybe higher if the juice is worth the squzze.

Unfortunately I'm headed to the Georgia National Fair Grounds with out my cart. But could pick up a part between there and Nashvile if someone knows of something.

Thanks in advanced for any input.

I would get a Alltrax 500 and you can set it so it doesn't put out 500 amps and use it with the stock motor.

An Alltrax 400 or 500 amp controller and HD solenoid will run you $499 (400 amps) or $636 (500 amps) with a heavy duty solenoid. Either one will give you the same 19mph code 4 gives. Both will work with 4/12v or 6/8v batteries.
