Re: My 2008 Precedent Rebuild Project
MorePics! A lot of learning along the way I really have no idea what I'm doing. I have been surprised at how little there actually is when breaking this thing down.

Batteries out, breaking it down to the frame.
I'm concerned about the rust on my pedal assembly, Should I replace? Is there a way to salvage? |

Doesn't look that bad to me. I would just clean it up. Overall, your cart looks like it will clean up nicely.

Re: My 2008 Precedent Rebuild Project
Thanks! I'm hoping I dont run into too many problems. Once I get all the way down to the frame, I'm gonna pressure wash and hit with the wire wheel to get rid of the rust. Once they're clean I'm gonna prime everything up and then paint. Everything is getting painted, hoping for a realy clean looking rebuild.

Re: My 2008 Precedent Rebuild Project
First thing is getting it stripped all the way down. I'm gonna hit everything with a wire wheel and get all the gunk/rust removed.
Everything is getting paint. I know, for the most part, this is unnecessary, but it gives me something to do The ultimate plan is to put a rear facing seat, so HD springs are going to be the 1st upgrade. Hoping to get some new wheels on it while doing the rebuild, but they may have to wait a bit. I am going to sand down the texture on the rear bumper, front facia, and side trim and then paint them to match the body. I'm a University of Florida graduate, so I'm going to go with a "gator" blue for the body. Even though I am a die hard Gator fan, I don't want my cart to be obnoxiously "Gator". Most of the cart is going to be Blue and a Charcoal Gray with small pops of Orange and some white. Maybe a Gray vinyl seat with White (faux gator skin) inserts with orange piping. The top is going to be painted either Blue or Gray (havent decided). Once all the main mods are made, I'm thinking of adding a headliner with my accessories. Probably going to run a couple of 6X9's, just for a little sound. Not sure if I'm going to install a head unit or just use my iphone/ipad to play music. I'm a golfer, so the primary use is for golf. It's not going to be lifted, just something I can listen to some tunes in while enjoying 18 holes or cruising around the neighborhood with the kids on the back. I'm hoping to have it done in a couple of months. |

Re: My 2008 Precedent Rebuild Project
More pics, started grinding a little on the frame to get rid of the oxidation and dirt I couldn't wash off. Hitting it with a wire wheel, very lightly.
Started grinding off the rust and paint here. The light from the flash is reflective at different angles so the photo doesn't do it justice, but its looking pretty nice. The different directions of the "swirl marks" don't bother me cause it's all getting paint in the end. |
