Feels like it's missing a gear...
I have an '88 CC that I recently purchased. I got it pretty cheap because it has an issue. I was told that one of the solenoids was bad. This 36v model has 5 solenoids. I did a continuity on all 5 and they seemed good to go. The cart will creep along when you push on the pedal then at close to all the way down it will lurch to full speed. There's no in between. Any suggestions as to what may be the problem?
Thanks in advance. Sean |

First off, welcome to the forum! You have come to the right place...
It sounds like one or two of the middle speed solenoids is bad. If the cart goes from slow to top speed, the first solenoid is probably engaging, then it's skipping the middle ones and going straight to the last one. |

Micros in the speed controller may be bad for the center solenoids. If not that it is the solenoids like Jakesnake says.

Re: Feels like it's missing a gear...
Thanks for the welcome jakesnake27. I replaced the fourth solenoid and it is still doing the same thing. I'm planning on replacing the third solenoid and hope that is the rest of the problem.
CartTrader: Where are these micros in the speed controller you speak of? Also how can I test/figure out if one is faulty? |

The micros are located inside a metal box under the seat on the drivers side. The box is usually silver and 2.5 to 3 inches by about 5 inches long. Usually has a red or black plastic cap on each end.

I took the speed switch assembly apart and the fourth one doesn't click. I found a new replacement for $117. Does that sound about right?

$117 for the micro switch? The micro switch is $10-$15 tops!! Just replace the non functioning micro switch!!
