Lift Kit
First of all I'm new here and I tried using the search feature and I couldn't find any information on Lift Kit installation, I'm sure it's here I just couldn't find it. Also, I hope this isn't a stupid question.
I own a 2001 Club Car DS 48 volt and I would like to install the 6" Lift Kit. When I see the parts needed it appears to be lifting only the front end six inches. I mean, does a lift kit raise the whole vehicle or just the front end? Please forgive me if that is a stupid question. If you could help me with this I would deeply appreciate it or if you could just direct me to another post that discusses the installation of lift kits. Thanks You so much. |

Re: Lift Kit
Mike welcome to the forum.
There is a lift kit for the front (drop spindles is one type) the back is seperate and a block most of the time goes between the leaf spring and the axle and it comes with longer "U" shackle bolts. Install directions come with the kit most of the time. It's basically remove and replace and just use common mechanical sense also the cart needs to be supported safely. Good luck, Steve |

Re: Lift Kit
As an example (I just found this on ebay) would this Lift Kit raise the whole vehicle (front & back) six inches?
Thanks again for any input. http://www.ebay.com/itm/CLUB-CAR-DS-...item256a0d2ce2 |

Re: Lift Kit
Which brand and type of lift kit are you looking at? As caokga says, for a spindle lift, like a Jakes brand for example, You replace some front suspension components that lift the front end. The rear part of the lift is just taking apart the rear leaf spring suspension on each side and inserting some solid blocks and putting it all back together using longer shackles that would also be included in the kit. Everything should be "in the box" together however, not usually sold separately. It's not a hard job but usually best with 2 pairs of hands. I somehow managed to install mine by myself, but it would have been a piece of cake with a helper.

What will you use your cart for? If you install HD springs, the ride will be much stiffer but you may need them if you will be carrying passengers on a back seat or hauling heavy stuff. If you don't need the springs, you will probably like the ride better if you keep the springs you have. You can always buy and add the HD springs later if you want. I have a rear seat and found that I still get by without the HD springs in the rear. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Club-Car-DS-...#ht_1941wt_932 In this Jakes kit, you'll see the blocks and shackles in the top center of the picture - that's your rear lift. |

Re: Lift Kit
okay, I get it. You guys are awesome. I guess I was just a little confused about how the rear end was lifted, the blocks and shackles cleared it all up.
One last question for you all. Did you have a difficult time removing the bolts? If so, what did you use to break them free. I mean, I've always used WD-40 but is their something better to remove 2001 bolts with a little rust? Thanks again for all your input. |

Re: Lift Kit
PB Blaster is good stuff for removing stuff like that. Spray it on and let it soak in good if you can.
