Jumping charger relay

I have a Hummer on a club car chassis. I run on a 48 v system. My batteries have been dead for awhile. So I bought some crystals that mix with warm water, you put them in the cells and they should help rejuvenate the batteries. When I plug in the charger nothing. Power is good and so is the fuse. Now if I take the hot and bypass the relay and go straight to the wire that feeds the transformer it comes on. Question I believe the relay is bad so if I charge the batteries like this will I cause any damage? I want to charge the batteries and I'm not sure where I can get the relay. Can I do this until I get a new relay?

Try "Trickle Charging" them to bring up to that point where the charging system recognizes that they are there.

Let the charger run for an hour with the relay bypassed. Disconnect the ac power and the cart from from the charger and reconnect the relay. The charger should come on automatically. Let it charge until it shuts itself off! This may be 14 - 16 hours. I'm afraid whatever compound you bought to put into the batteries won't do much! Use the battery break in procedure in this link http://www.cartsunlimited.net/ to resurrect as much as you will be able to get out of your batteries. Having them discharged for a period of time is very damaging to them!

did you get the crystals off of ebay (basicly epson salts) sorry put wont do much

here we go again !!! there are some who say Epson salt mix does not work
i for one did it a few years ago on a dead set and used them for a year with great power and long run times .. only stopped when a free set (newer) was offered and "salt " batteries were used for trade-in if you want to see the flack i took read

and as you can see mine started out slow then got better follow break in for new batteries

I'll give you credit for sticking with it and for being one of the lucky ones. I used it a while back and didnt give it enough time or break in i guess. it did seem to inprove them but not enough for me not to buy new a few weeks later.

I wired the relay back up after allowing the batteries to charge. The charger is charging on its own. Lets see if the snake oil works. I've got a camping trip at the end of May and my wife is cringing if I have to buy batteries again. Oh yeah and I almost forgot it looks like I need tires too.

The batteries chared up and after 24 hours I was getting 50.4 volts. I drove the cart around for 15 min and now I have 49.4 volts. Next I put it on the charger and the charger makes a click but the transformer does not kick on. 2 questions her should I run it some more and why won't the charger kick on.

yea charger needs less volts to turn on ... go run around some more
