Cart won't move after accident

We have a club car electric golf cart. My son had an accident with it early last week and now it won't move. It makes a clicking sound when it is in drive and we press the gas. It makes the regular buzzing noise when it's in reverse, but it won't go in reverse either. He ran it head on into a tree. When he did, the batteries shifted forward pushing the panel that the gear shift and battery charging outlet is at forward. Today I found a battery cable that had snapped at the top part of the metal connection piece. There was still metal on metal, so I'm not sure if that could be our problem. What do you guys think? We are not mechanical people, so I'll need to get someone to fix it if it's that. If you don't think it's that, do you have any ideas on what else to look at? I've looked at all of the other wires and they all appear to be connected just fine.

One possibility is that one ( or more ) of the batteries got a hole knocked in it and the electrolyte drained out. This should be quite evident if you park on a hard surface. Take a peek under the cart! There are a myriad of things that could have happened though, so I would suggest you get a cart knowledgeable friend to help you look at it!

Look things over very carefully. It is very possible that you have some hidden damage. Pull all of the battery caps and make sure they are full. Look for broken cables. Look for bent suspension and steering parts. You want your cart to be safe and reliable.

The battery cables are now good and the batteries are all showing 38 volts. Any other ideas? It's a 1990 electric Club Car. My friend is an electrician and he can't find any loose wires or anything.

It's a 36 volt 1990 Club Car. There were 3 kids riding on it. My son hit his head on the bar holding the roof on and got cuts and scrapes. One of the other boys hit his mouth on the opposite side of the bar. He loosened some teeth, but they're tightening up. They ran head on into an apple tree in our back yard. It hit just the front bumper. The plate holding the batteries in right under where the drivers seat is shifted and those 2 batteries came forward breaking the fiberglass piece in front and pushing it forward.

you may have broken the F&R switch, it is plastic bodied and would have taken the full impact of those 60# batteries if they were not properly tied down.

Okay, guys! We finally figured out what is wrong. It's the solenoid. My husband's friend told him to stick a screw driver in-between the two posts and see what it does. It sparked and moved forward. So does that sound like what is wrong to you? If so, can you tell me exactly what all we need to order to get it fixed and where the best place to order it from would be? Actual links would be awesome! Thanks!
