Default Got a deal? (Exide Batteries)

So I'm sitting around today shooting the breeze at work and the talk turns to my golf cart and it's need to replace the batteries in the near future. Well, one of the guys laughed at the $600 replacement cost and said "Why don't you just go over to the Exide warehouse around the corner on Wednesday and get seconds?" We have an Exide warehouse? Seconds? What the hell are they? So he explains to me that when an Exide battery sits on a retail shelf and reaches one year from it's manufacturing date, Exide brings it back to it's warehouse. They then sell them directly to the public at a reduced rate....... So of course I go over there to inquire about this fable. It's true! I got 6 - 8V batteries manufacturered March 2012 with a 30 day warranty for $294!.... Is this a deal? Anyone have any experience with Exide batteries?

Well lets see what others have to say, but new batteries are only at about 70% charge sitting on a shelf, now a battery that is 70% charged is sulfatating, and has been sulfatating for one year from being on the shelf with no charge,, but that is a good price

Unfortunately not. I will pick them up Friday and they will be charged beforehand. I really trusted the tech when he said that he would buy them for his cart and not think twice about it.
