Default 48.5v = 50% ?

If my digital meter shows 48.5 after charging, and if I'm reading the state of battery charge sticky chart right, does my pack only have a 50% charge? Should I be considering battery replacement after all?

If that is the reading after several full charges, I would consider new batteries. However, since you weren't fully charging your batteries with the cable bypassing the OBC, I would give it a few more full cycles to see if pack voltage comes up. Are water and electrolyte levels above plates? If not, put enough in to just cover plates, then add distilled water to proper level after full charge.

I suspect that it will take a few charging cycles after a complete discharge. 48.5v after 1 charge after a complete discharge is probably your bottom line...discharge slightly and charge again..if you still hit 48.5v after a charge or 2, I would consider a replacement.

I agree, I would see if it takes any additional charge in case the pack was so low that the charger automatically shut off, since you were having charger issues.

is this meter reading from a hand held or a dash mounted type ?
assuming it a dash mount , what is it across all , then across each with a hand held

The reading is from a dash mount for the entire pack (I don't have a handheld). After a ride yesterday and an overnight charge, the voltage reading this morning is 49.1. Looks like I'm headed in the right direction.

NICE, keep the cycles of use short and the charge time as long as it will go... They should pick up a few volts.
