Default Battery Corrision

I'm having to replace battery cables every year due to excessive corrosion, it is corrioding the ends to where they just come apart. I have sprayed on battery terminal spray, used grease with the same effect. What is the problem? The cart is a 1998 DS Club Car, 48v. Any comments would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!
1.) Make sure your connections are tight.
2.) Do not overfill the batteries with water.
3.) You are doing the right thing by using the spray.

Here is one recommendation.

Battery Maintenance is an important issue. The battery should be cleaned using a baking soda and water solution; a couple of table spoons to a pint of water. Cable connections need to be cleaned and tightened as battery problems are often caused by dirty and loose connections. A serviceable battery needs to have the fluid level checked. Use only mineral free water, Distilled is best as all impurities have been removed, and there is nothing left that could contaminate your cells. Don't overfill battery cells especially in warmer weather because the natural fluid expansion in hot weather can push excess electrolytes from the battery. To prevent corrosion of cables on top post batteries use a small bead of silicone sealer at the base of the post and place a felt battery washer over it. Coat the washer with high temperature grease or petroleum jelly (Vaseline), then place cable on the post and tighten. Coat the exposed cable end with the grease. Most folks don't know that just the gases from the battery condensing on metal parts cause most corrosion.

when useing spray make sure cables and posts are as clean as you can get them

i am not a fan of the grease ... if your cable nut comes lose (and they do )the heat will melt the grease and you have a mess ..

i wire brush cables and post weekly and still have to replace wires

I don't do all of that stuff and I've never had a bit of corrosion on a cart battery. I keep them clean with a baking soda solution and the red spray on the terminals. They were just some suggestions from a battery site.

The precise people say 4 tablespoons per quart of water. The stuff is so cheap I just throw a box in a gallon of water or so, pour it on top of the batteries and rinse it off. One caution. If you do this on a concrete driveway the runoff will stain the concrete.
I don't do it that often, just when they start to look a little dirty.
