Rotary Switch For Digital Meter
Hey guys,
I've been thinking of adding a 6 position rotary switch to my digital meter so that I could individually select the 4 pack batteries, the auxillary battery, and the pack batteries as a whole. Has anyone done this? What type of rotary switch do I need? Single pole? Two pole? George |

Re: Rotary Switch For Digital Meter
You mean something like this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/GOLF-CART-BA...item338241af10 It needs to be a 2 pole switch since you need to toggle both positive and negative inputs to the meter. It seems like a lot of wires to me, and I wonder if those multi-pair cables are rated for the hash environment of the battery compartment. A lot of people just use a SPDT switch for the positive side, assuming the negatives are common, to switch between voltage pack and auxiliary battery reading. |

How would the SPDT work? The pack positive to one side of the switch, the axillary positive to the other side, and both negatives to the center? George |

Re: Rotary Switch For Digital Meter
The wire gauge is fine as those digital meters drain less than 20 milliamps.
For the SPDT, You would wire the center position to the positive on the meter, and one side of the switch to the positive on the pack and the other side of the switch to the positive of the auxiliary battery. You need to have the negative of the pack and the negative of the auxiliary battery connected together to the negative of the meter. |
