Default 05 Club Car Precedent Steering popping

I have an 05 Precedent with All Sports 6" lift kit, HD springs and 23" tires. I've had the cart for several years and use it almost every day. Within the last few weeks it has developed a popping sound from the front end. I've narrowed it down to the steering mechanism that connects to the steering wheel. It really sounds to me like either a bad bearing sound or a gear with a sheered off tooth. It still steers OK, but has developed a bump steer problem that it never had before. I have rechecked and adjusted the toe in on the front end which helped that a bit but it's still there.

Has anyone seen this popping sound before? Also not sure how hard it would be to change out steering mechanism or if any special tools would be needed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like the guts of the rack are worn out and it's causing slop in the steering. I see it a lot.

Thanks David, that's what I thought. How big of a pain is it to change and any special tools needed?

It's very easy. No there's no special tools needed. Just a socket set and a wrench.
