Default Thread gone about PQ Bandit

Anybody now why my thread disappeared? I was asking how and or why a PQ Bandit would blow out a controller. Don't get me wrong I am not blaming PQ.
What had happened...I purchased a used PQ Bandit and when I installed it, it blew out my controller. The guy I got it from at first thought the motor went bad, but had been wanting a higher torque motor anyway. After installing the torque motor found out his controller had blown. So in his (and my) thinking the motor was good, but surprise to both of us motor had gone bad.
That is the gist of what the thread was about. Why would the motor or ANY motor take out a controller?
I sent a message to the mods about the thread disappearing, but haven't heard back from them yet.

Any motor can go bad. It doesn't matter who builds it. PlumQuick makes one of the best products I have ever used and their facility is state of the art. Whatever happened to that motor to cause it to malfunction was a direct result of how it had been used prior to you receiving it. I know you realize that but I just wanted to throw that out there so nobody gets a bad taste about PlumQuick.

Anyways, imagine a motor and controller being 1 component, not two. They're tied together with each other when they're installed on the car. You've got a motor with an internal short and a controller that's bolted to it on all four posts. This creates a shorted controller as well. A bad motor will burn a controller up in a heartbeat. I see it all the time.

CartTrader, it sounds like you can now decide whatever controller and motor combo you want!
That's too bad about the bandit being a dud...

You are absolutely right David!! I am not blaming Plum Quick in anyway shape or form!! Maybe I shouldn't of stated it was a PQ motor. I wasn't meaning to put them down! I was just wanting info on what might of caused it. And how to check the motor to see if I could figure out what went wrong. AND I was wondering why my thread disappeared!

I would call PQ and talk to them. I am sure the motor can be fixed even though something happened when it was on a prior cart. Based on other threads I have seen they are great with customer service even though this was not really their problem I'll bet they treat you right to fix it.

I have heard nothing but good things about Plum Quick!

Good luck!

Not all motors can be fixed. Usually the ones with heat damaged can not be.

FYI for you series cart owners the new Alltrax SPM controls have reverse polarity protection. This prevents the motor from taking out the control. Soon to be available for Sepex drive systems too. This is a first in the industry! Check out our cheap combo prices
